WTF? Looks like I should log off my user name before I leave work next time. I know the guy who posted this, he's this dude who really loves The Who, and with good reason too. I never heard of Jaco, but I looked some of his stuff up and I can tell he was instrumental(pardon the pun) in developing modern bass. But you have to admit, for his time John did some amazing things for the bass.

there is so much to digest from watching this video alone.I use this as a work out/warm up.Between this and the studio version there is so much to learn.

it is standard 440 tunning ,some nice ghost notes and hammer-ons some good 16th note stuff
and yes mad fills----the guy was a great rock player so lets all relax with the jaco stuff its not a fair comparison (in my opinion) john could play melodic as hell too when he wanted (just check out pure and easy or gettin' in tune)also keep in mind the guy HAD to fillin alot of sound

Had the great Jaco lived today (as well as John), Jaco would snatch that bass^^^ and play it like JOHN had NEVER HEARD IT BEING PLAYED B-4!@NelsonLuvsTits!...'did what Hendrix did for the guitar'.....PLEASE DUDE GIVE THESE READERS ALL A BREAK!..LMFAO!~It was the geniuos of Jaco Pastorious whom brought the electric bass from the background COMPLETELY into the forefront!Jaco Pastorious played the bassthe way ANY electric bass IS 2 BE PLAYED!Jaco developed the blueprint dum fuck!geez!~

Jaco was great, but John did for the bass what Hendrix did for the guitar, and did it before Jaco....Also how can you compare a rock n roll player of Johns stature to Jacowhos a jazz player?Anyway John did it b4 Jaco...

Entwistle had more talent in his pinky nail than geddy freakin lee will ever have

Certainly gives Geddy Lee a run for his money. Nice vid, and thanks for posting.

sounds like standard tuning to me
JoeAuriun (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Doesn't sound like it to me either. Funny thing is, most bass players I've met didn't even know there was a standard tuning for bass lol
mysticblade35 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Did he use standard tuning? It doesn't really sound like it in this video... |
